November Shopper’s Surgery Feedback

A busy morning once again for the assembled councillor’s on the shoppers surgery in the Glossop Market Arcade, with a wide range of issues been raised with us.

For myself I had everything from concerns around the market from some of the market traders and how well (or not) the council is working with them, to as expected issues around the blue bags and recycling.

There was also concerns been raised by locals following the recent end of the 397 service and the rerouting of the 393 service to try and still provide some level of service to the folk covered by the 397, and a view been taken that the loss of the 393 through Wolley Bridge etc is / has caused problems.

Next month (December) sees a break as the forth Saturday would be Christmas Eve and folk will most likely have other things on their mind than seeing us lot !

It was great to see the large number of groups and individuals that both attended and took part in today's remembrance Sunday service.

It was especially good to see the ever growing numer of young folk involved in one of the various uniformed organisations such as the army cadets, scouts and guides, along with an increased number of schools also laying wreaths.

Gamesley Councillors Anthony Mckeown and Dave Wilcox along with Hadfield South Councillor’s Bob Mckeown and Edward Siddall are inviting Gamesley residents to join them for their latest councillor’s surgery, which is taking place this Saturday morning  (13th August).

Whilst many folk may be off on their summer holidays the Gamesley Councillors are available all year round and are looking for any complaints, grumbles or perhaps even compliments on council services that locals may have, they are particularly interested in views from parents and teenagers affected by the recent cuts to concessionary fares which came into effect on the 1st August, and the details for works taking place on the ‘electric’ side of the estate are still available for viewing.

Councillor Anthony Mckeown said “Whilst the summer holidays may be a great time for a break, locals may still have issues they want to raise with us, or comments around recent events such as the Gamesley CESP consultation or the recent consultation around proposals for the former Samas Roneo site”

The surgery will run from 9.00am until 11.00am and locals are welcome to call in for a brew, even if they don’t have a particular issue or grumble to raise with the councillors, it takes place in the Gamesley Resident’s Association Office on Winster Mews on Gamesley.

Samas Roneo Site - Housing Consultation

BNP Paribas on behalf of Astor Property Group are holding a consultation on proposals from them to build up to 95 homes on the former Samas Roneo Site and adjacent land between the site and the Bluebell Pub.

The consultation is set to take place on Monday 24th July from 4pm until 7pm in the Gamesley Residents Association Office and you can download a copy of the information leaflet about the consultation by clicking here (it's in PDF format - and you can download a adobe reader for free from www.adobe.com).

I expect the proposals if they move on to become an actual planning application will raise a mixed response from local people and the planners.

I would expect a welcome to proposals that will sort out / remove the 'ruins / remains' of the former Samas Roneo warehouse, but with both the former warehouse and most of the adjacent land being put forward for development both being classed at current as land for industrial / employment use will the proposals meet the requirements of planners ?
