A quieter week this week, with the first meeting of the week been a meeting of the Northern Tenants Panel on the Tuesday.
The meeting which in the absence of the usual Chair, I chaired, covered a range of issue’s relating to housing, including looking at some of the future plans of the Councils ALMO company (High Peak Community Housing).
A few bits of controversy relating to an a bid from Tintwistle Parish Council for some funds from the tenants improvement budget, but welcome funding given to activities during the summer which will be targeted at children from the various housing area around Glossop.
Another welcome announcement was around smoke alarms, which will now be fitted to all properties during the annual gas inspections.
Another issue during most of the week was continued rumors abounding around the 239-bus service to Tameside Hospital, and the reported loss of it from Monday 30th January. These rumors were due to the start up of the rival S39 service, run by a rival bus company, on a similar route, and in most cases minutes before the existing service. Now whilst in time it may cause some problems around the hospital service – at the moment there is no change and both services will run from Monday 30th January.
Friday, saw the monthly meeting of the High Peak constituency Labour Party. This month in New Mills, a quite well attended with a good / continued debate around the theme of the Education White Paper, which included a motion from the Glossopdale Branch on getting our MP to support the proposals put forward in the alternative white paper. Further details on the ‘debate’ are available here on the High Peak Constituency Labour Party web site.
Saturday morning was spent in the GRA Office, including a little bit of time on the GRA Website, you can see progress so far here.
Saturday also saw further progress for Gamesley FC, who now progress to the semi finals of the Derbyshire Cup, after beating Chapel Town 2 – 1.
