Tesco Surgery / Credit Unions

Last Saturday morning (31st January) saw a trip to Tesco’s, for Tom Levitt’s monthly surgery. As is quite often the case it was a busy morning for Tom with at times a queue of people waiting !

The reason for flagging this up, was for a meeting that took place at the end of the surgery with Abbie Shelton from ABCUL which is the association of credit unions who are currently working with a group which includes High Peak Community Housing that is working to establish a credit union covering the High Peak.

Whilst still at the early stages the work of the group seems to going well and they hope to working on a feasibility study for the plan shortly, with one of the issues under consideration been whether it may be faster to get one of the existing credit unions either in Derbyshire or elsewhere to extend to cover the High Peak.

The group are hoping to make speedy progress and if you are interested in getting involved, please let me know and I can put you in touch.
