Councillor Risby who represented the Moston Ward had been on Manchester City
Council for 36 years and was Lord Mayor in 1993, Cllr Risby was also
actively involved in the trade union movement and was one of the founders of
the Nuclear Free Movement which led to Manchester been declared a nuclear
free city.
Whilst I didn't know Cllr Risby that well myself, he knew the other Cllr
Mckeown quite well and attended the Mayoral Church Service, during my Dad's
Mayoral year where the picture above was taken.
