that Essex County Council are considering setting up there own bank.
The scheme which is been considered as part of the council's plans to help
the local economy and would also include a credit union has been inspired by
some of the regional banks in America and could provide an interesting
alternative to council's looking to invest there money in banks either UK
based or further a field.
Now whilst I don't think the idea could be something the borough council
could consider on its own it may well be an idea worth watching for the
future.
