Social inclusion committee

Last Wednesday evening saw a special meeting of the social inclusion and
community committee to consider the councils response to the rent review and
BT's review of payphones in the High Peak.

Although due to a recent court hearing the rent service review is on hold it
was still decided to consider the council's response so we are ready as soon
as the review is able to continue to respond, the meeting also served as a
reminder of the cross-party support from all groups on the council to the
case for the Glossopdale situation to be changed from the original findings
of the rent service review.

With regards to the payphones after the first round of consultations the
committee approved the interim list which as highlighted a few weeks ago
calls on BT to change their decision and save a number of the payphones
currently under threat.

The revised list will now be subject to a final round of public consultation
before been sent back to BT in early September, for further information or
to make you're comments on the new list contact the council's planning
department before the 29th August.
