Clinic Meeting

Last Tuesday evening saw a gathering of local councillors from across
Glossopdale along with one or two others to meet with representatives of the
Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust to receive a briefing on the plans
for the new 'super' clinic, which is planned to be built on the site of the
current George Street Clinic.

The building which will represent just over £5 million pounds investment
into the Glossopdale area, aims to bring a improved range of services to
Glossop supplementing what the existing Doctors surgeries do and hopefully
reducing the need for locals to travel outside of Glossop from some of the
tests that you current have to travel to receive.

Following the public consultation on the scheme earlier this month, the PCT
and Bury, Tameside and Glossop Community Solution - the PPP / ex PFI (public
private partnership) company that will actually build and operate the
building hope to submit a planning application in September, with building
to start in February 2009 and the clinic to hopefully start 'operating' by
June 2010.
