Bus Fares Rises

Speedwell Leaflet 2003
Originally uploaded by AnthonyMck.

Unwelcome news from Speedwell, with the news that bus fares will once again be on the rise.

The increases are advised by Speedwell as being unavoidable due to increases in fuel prices, and will see most fares rise by between 10p and 20p, except for the fare to Tameside Hospital as this is the main hospital route for Gamesley residents.

The increases will come into effect from Sunday 6th April and were last increased in October 2007 and will see the following fares in place for the below destinations :

Glossop to Gamesley - £1.70 (up 10p)
Gamesley to Stepping Hill - £3.50 (up 15p)
Gamesley/Hyde - £2.80 (up 15p)
Gamesley to Tameside Hospital - £2.90 - No Increase
Gamesley/Ashton - £3.00 (up 10p)

Speedwell Weekly - £12.50 (up 50p)
Speedwell Daily - £3.80 (up 20p)

Notices are displayed on the bus giving further information or call Speedwell on 0161 367 8588 – email enquiries@speedwellbus.com
Website www.speedwellbus.com

As flagged up last time the system one range of tickets (full details available at www.systemonetravelcards.co.uk) are available as an alternative in bus only, bus and tram and bus and train combinations.

This latest rise will now mean that in the just under 5 years since the ‘Gamesley Network’ (picture image of the October 03 leaflet) was launched by Speedwell the fare from Glossop to Gamesley has more than doubled from it’s 80p launch to the forthcoming £1.70.

Hey Ant!

Before you start going blaming the Tory controlled HPBC (Hip Hip Hooray!). Those routes are controlled by the GMPTA* to which I may add is run by the controlling Labour mob in Greater Manchester (Boo). So there you have it.

Tara,

Liam Billington

*With the possible exception of the Gamesly/Glossop route.

P.S. Included my full name just so that there is no excuse for you not publishing my comment.
