Mosquito menace ?

With at least one mosquito device already in use in Glossopdale, and more
planned including the possibility of one for the Winster Mews shops, are the
mosquito units the menace with concerns been raised by the Children's
commissioner for England or are they a necessary measure for helping to
tackle anti social behaviour ?

The devices which emit a high-pitched noise that causes discomfort to young
ears, but doesn't normally effect people over 25, has been used in many
areas across the county to tackle anti-social behaviour by helping to
disperse groups of youths.

However in a new campaign been led by the Children's commissioner for
England and backed by a number of other groups including Liberty called
'Buzz Off'. They are calling for the devices to be scrapped as they are
indiscriminate and target all children and young people, including babies,
regardless of whether they are behaving or misbehaving.
