Details provided by constituents of the other Councillor Mckeown, highlight the Earth Hour campaign, a campaign which was started in Sydney in 2007 to inspire people in to taking action on climate change.
The way they were inspired in 2007, was by persuading 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses to turn there lights off one hour – Earth Hour
This included such icons as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House along with unique events such as weddings by candlelight.
All of which caused the world to take notice and through been inspired by last years events in Sydney turn this years earth hour from a symbolic event into a global movement.
