Following a lengthy consultation process, the Joint Committee of Primary Health Care Trusts decided at it meeting last Friday to keep baby services at Tameside Hospital, with neonatal intensive care units been concentrated at St Mary's, Manchester, the Royal Bolton and Royal Oldham Hospitals.
This matches up with option A of the consultation process, which the majority of Glossopdale people, and both the Glossop weekly papers supported and campaigned for, an issue’s which is noted in the report to joint committee, which is available for download from the Making it better website.
It does however go against the preference of the Borough council, which was to suggest an alternative option to those within the consultation process which would see services retained at both Tameside and Macclesfield Hospital along with Stepping Hill which appeared in all the
