Tuesday saw a meeting of the Tameside Local Transport, which is a meeting between representatives of the main bus companies in Manchester, along with representatives of the GMPTE/A (Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive / Authority), councillor's, Tameside residents and others with an interest in public transport.
Not much to report from the meeting as amongst other things the company that runs most Glossop services does not attend. However there were a few bits of interest including further reports on the progress of the Metrolink coming to Ashton, Ikea, security staff for bus station's, improvements to Stalybridge station, and the plans for a 'operator's surgery' in Ashton Bus Station during November.
The 'operator's surgery' should be a useful session that will give members of the public a direct chance to question the various operators that provide local transport services.
Thursday contained a meeting of the Labour Group at Chinley, amongst the items up for discussion were the Pavilion Gardens, Fairtrade, Global Warming, and of course the (at this time of year) the Christmas Do.
Friday and off to New Mills for this month's constituency meeting. Interesting discussion's on a range of issue's, and news from Tom Levitt MP on Hilary Benn's (who Tom is PPS for) decision to stand for the deputy leadership of the party.
Saturday and an early start (for a Saturday) to join with Jacqui and Roger Wilkinson, for there surgery with Tom in Tesco's. A few issues raised including continuing problems with the decision to effectively 'cut' bin collections from various rural properties around Glossopdale.
A short stint in the GRA office where the latest edition of the ‘Gamesley News’ is been produced followed by a trip to Morgan's to pay the papers.
On the way, there a local resident raised problems with BT. A quick chat with one of the electoral registration officer working to get everyone on the estate registered, and on the way back concerns raised over inconsiderate parking on Glossop Road effecting parents taking there kid’s up to school in Charlesworth – more on this to follow.
Finally a warm welcome to anyone reading this blog for the first time following the report in this week’s Glossop Advertiser, I hope you will find it interesting, and if there any questions, issue’s or comments please let me know. Either by leaving a comment or via the details on the queries and comments page.
