Winster Mews Sub Station / The Shops

Work should start today on the demolition of the sub station (pictured above) at the end of the shops on Winster Mews.
It is hoped that noise and disruption will be kept to a minimum for the work, which has been part funded by the last of SRB money received by the estate a few years ago.
The works on the shops have not been without there problems and last week a meeting took place with HPCH (the ALMO) and local residents living above the shops who were concerned and annoyed due problems with the consultation over newly installed security fencing on the back gardens of the properties, which residents were commenting were making them feel like they were in a prison.
However following the meeting it has been agreed that the fencing will be removed during the week after next.
It will then be taken away to be altered prior to been refixed during the week starting 18th October on the 'canopy' side of the rear wall, meaning that along with the existing wall the total height will be around 6 feet.
In addition HPCH will also be carrying out a survey to check the condition of both the front and rear walls of the houses above the shops, following the various recent works.
Hopefully these works along with the recent installation of CCTV on the shops, and the Police moving into the housing office, will help to make the area around the shops better for local residents.
