Last Week - a brief review

Last week was a fairly quite week, was the last few meetings to finish up most things for the summer, they was however an announcement from the Council that the Conservative member for Dinting, Kate Hopkins has resigned from council, leading to most likely a second by election in September.

Saturday saw a quite day for me, but Cllr Vicky Mann over in Hadfield, tried a 'roving' surgery in Chapel Lane Park in Hadfield, not many constituents attending, but she did help some kids in the park with a swing, and is now working towards setting up a 'Friends of Chapel Lane Park' group to see what can be done to improve the park.

Friday, saw this month's GC or General Committee meeting to give it the full title, the monthly (except August and December) meeting of the Constituency Labour Party. This month the meeting took place in the Gamesley Community Centre, with amongst others items on the last elections, and looking at Partnership in power on the agenda.

Friday also saw a meeting of the Gamesley Residents Association, which met during the day and which due to work commitments, I was unable to attend.

Wednesday night saw a meeting of the Council's regulatory committee, essentially the committee that looks at the Council's rules. Wednesday meeting had a more functional role rather than reviewing the rules, with items on Tintwistle Parish Council, The Annual Accounts and Reviewing the role of Full Council.

Tintwistle Parish Council was the latest stage in the ongoing debate between the parish council and local residents association, which was decided by allowing things to continue as they are, with no review of the Parish Council's existence. The Annual Accounts, was the formal approval which use to be done at full council, but is now required earlier, with the reviewing of full council been to obtain the committee's approval to look at what other council's do and seekpracticeactise on improving the full council meetings. This could involve more question time style items, presentations and so on, all aimed at making the full council meetings more relevant to the community we serve.
