The event which is been held in London's Canary Wharf aims to bring together
'over 100 members of the left blogosphere, net-savvy Labour
parliamentarians, councillors, organisers and others from the Labour
movement who have an interest in e-campaigning and using the net to build a
better democracy.'
The event will also have as is obligatory at any such event at the moment a
representative from the Obama campaign, with Joe Rospars, who was New Media
Director making the keynote speech along with various other blogging and new
media luminaries.
Now whilst I think the idea of the event is a good one, and I hope it get a
lot of coverage, I won't be venturing down there myself because at a cost of
not far short of £70 for the train, along with the hassle of getting both to
Manchester for an early train along with trekking across London to get to
Canary Wharf and back again, before you've paid for the event is not
necessarily worth the money or time.
One trick I think they've missed and I'm not sure if it would have been an
option, but you hope given that the theme is on net campaigning must surely
have been holding a virtual event with people been able to log on and view
and take part from wherever they are rather than having to trek to London !
