establishing a credit union for the High Peak. Efforts were tried a number
of years ago (during the time of Fr Michael Moore at St Margaret's) to
establish one on Gamesley, but at that time we weren't a large enough area
to sustain one.
The talks I understand are involving the Citizens Advice Bureau, Association
of British Credit Unions and the Unity Trust Bank along with other local
groups and I hope that the Council and High Peak Community Housing will do
what they can to support the establishment of a credit union for the High
Peak, which I'm sure would be welcomed by residents across the High Peak at
this time.
