Area Forum

Last Thursday evening saw the most recent meeting of the Glossopdale Area
Forum.

As has been the case with some of the previous meetings the 'public' were
just slightly out numbered by the councillor's, police, press and 'council'
officials present.

Also missing for the forum was both the local chair and vice, with the chair
been taken for the evening by Chapel-en-le-Frith and Executive Member
Councillor Andrew Bingham.

The theme for the forum this time was around public spending priorities and
whilst the exercise was interesting to a point, I'm not entirely convinced
that the area forums are achieving the goals originally set out when they
were first established particularly around increasing the amount of local
decision making, with many of the issues and themes covered during the most
recent round of meetings been essentially consultation exercises on various
issues that have been around at the time.
