Manchester Congestion Charge

Wednesday sees the first meeting of a sub committee established by the
environment select committee to look at the effect of the proposed
Manchester Congestion Charge on the High Peak.

The three member panel which includes myself, New Mills Councillor Ray
Atkins and Buxton Councillor Fiddy will look over the next few months at the
bid and what it will mean for residents of the High Peak both in terms of
cost and other effects including what investment it should bring to local
transport services.

The exact method of how the committee will work (ie public hearings or just
officer reports) has not been set yet, but if you have any views on the
proposals please let me know.
