GC meeting

Last Friday saw a meeting of the grandly titled (using the full title)
general committee of the High Peak Labour Party, which this month was
meeting at the Gamesley Sport and Community Centre.

As usual a wide range of item under discussion the main ones been the
re-selection (or otherwise) of our current MEP Glenis Willmott, along with a
discussion on the Britain in the World Policy Forum Document.

We unanimously re-selected Glenis Willmott who despite have the big job of
following in the footsteps of Philip Whitehead has made great strides in
both getting to grips with the work of the European Parliament along with
trying to cover as much of the East Midlands region as possible.

With regards to the policy forum discussion we covered a wide range of
issues from improving the United Nations, to nuclear disarmament, along with
touching on amongst other issues climate change, nuclear power, Iraq and the
Middle East and general comments around how foreign policy can effect
terrorism.
