Smokefree England

Just a few day (1st July) now until the new law banning smoking in virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces comes into effect.

The official website for Smokefree England says, the new measures will ensure a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from second-hand smoke, and hopefully it won’t have the drastic effects feared by many pubs and clubs in reducing too much of their trade.

Now whilst not popular with everyone (including possibly the other Cllr Mckeown) making more public spaces smoke-free, should be a good thing and I hope will have the effect advertised on the Smokefree England website of
“saving thousands of lives over the next decade by reducing the amount of second-hand smoke in enclosed public places and workplaces, and providing a more supportive environment for those that want to quit.”
