Recycling

Most Sunday morning’s (if I’m up !), I will usually watch the ‘regional’ section of BBC One’s Politics Show, with last Sunday’s including a report on recycling, and some of the measures local councils were taking to deal with the issue’s raised.

Part of the report included a segment from Tameside Council, who have worked locally to find local solutions on what to do with recycled materials. These ranged from recycling glass into various types of sand, (with a machine reported to be designed by Cllr Roy Oldham the leader of the council), to having plastic waste, recycled into parts for park benches and other street furniture.

Whilst it may be difficult for the High Peak to do similar, it does show that there is some innovative thinking going on with regards to what can be done locally with materials collected for recycling.
