Weekend

Friday, saw my first attempt to see the new Bond Film, fail due to it been sold out. Instead I went and seen The Prestige, which stars Hugh Jackman of X-men fame, and Christian Bale of Batman fame, along with appearances from David Bowie, and Michael Cain.

A very good film, with a nice twist in the tale, covering the tale of two turn of the century magicians who embark on a dangerous game of one-upmanship, in there quest to be the best magician.

Saturday was this year’s High Peak Labour Group Christmas do, which took place in the Royal Hotel in Hayfield. A very pleasant evening with good food and good company !

On Sunday, I was successful in trying to see the new James Bond film, which I would heartily recommend to anyone. Very impressive with a critic silencing performance from Daniel Craig, who whilst not my first choice for the Bond role (I would have preferred Clive Owen) looked the part, and along with a good supporting cast ‘renewed’ Bond for the current generation.

The new film which come in just short of 2 ½ hours and is an intensive action packed film, that instead of relying on ‘gadgets’ as some of the films have in the past, relied on the characters, setting and action been believable enough that you were kept on the edge of your seats for the duration, and I for one definitely look forward to the next in the series.
